Amid the war in Ukraine, Russia is reportedly preparing to carry out a deep modernisation of its T-62 reserve tanks. Reports suggest, around 800 to 1,000 T-62 tanks will be refurbished before they are sent to Ukraine. Russia produced over 22,000 T-62 tanks, before production was halted in 1975. Around 2,000 T-62 tanks are still believed to be in service with the Russian forces. The Kremlin’s decision to upgrade the T-62 tanks comes as Russia faces setbacks in the Ukraine war.
