Counteroffensive seems to lose its momentum
Over two months into the conflict, the counteroffensive seems to lose its momentum. The progress made by Kyiv is confined to only a few villages, while Russian forces persist in making headway in the north. The plan to train Ukrainian pilots on American F-16s has also faced a setback. Ukraine’s lack of definite progress is causing worries about a potential deadlock and a loss of international support. A recently undisclosed U.S. intelligence report predicts that the counteroffensive will never reach the key southeastern city of Melitopol this year, leading to the conclusion that Ukraine’s counterattack is facing potential failure.
