Ukraine’s military say Russian troops stormed Severodonetsk, pushing back Ukrainian troops from the city centre. Luhansk Governor says Russia is succeeding “due to a significant advantage in artillery”. According to officials, Ukrainian and Russian forces are engaged in ‘artillery duel’ in southern Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged the West to send his country modern missile defence systems. Ukraine’s Presidential Advisor says Ukraine needs “heavy weapons parity” to end the war.
