Former US Defence Secretary, Mark Esper, said that Putin’s war in Ukraine has exposed the Russian military. Esper said that Putin’s Army has faced strategic failures on multiple fronts and warned of a long-drawn conflict in Ukraine. While backing NATO’s stand to not get directly involved in the war at the moment, the former US official said that the military option cannot be taken off the table. He also backed Biden’s recent statement on defending Taiwan militarily if China were to invade and said that the world faces a threat from autocrats like Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping.
