On January 1, the Japanese government reported that it had successfully intercepted a Chinese Guizhou WZ-7 “Soaring Dragon” drone in the Miyako Strait. This marks the first time that Japanese authorities have reported intercepting this specific type of drone. The interception occurred after the Chinese WZ-7 drones were spotted flying over the East China Sea for two consecutive days, prompting Japan to scramble jets to intercept them.
