Ukraine has said that Russia is attacking its positions in the eastern region in an attempt to encircle its forces. Ukrainian forces claim to have pushed back Russian military and reached a section of Ukraine–Russia state border in Kharkiv. Ukraine has reportedly accused Russia of dropping phosphorus bombs on Mariupol’s Azovstal steel plant on May 15. Zelensky has said that the Russian troops were “at a dead end” in the conflict with Ukraine. Western military officials also said the campaign Moscow launched in Donbas has slowed to a snail’s pace.
