A spate of US Navy warship accidents in Asia since January
Another US Navy warship accident in Asian waters took place, the fourth this year. The USS John S. McCain, a Navy guided-missile destroyer, collided with an oil tanker east of Singapore. Defense Secretary James Mattis said Monday he supports a decision by the Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson to conduct a “broader inquiry” into the recent accidents and “to determine any causal factors.” Mattis spoke to reporters while traveling in Jordan.
