Road to Berlin Story
Summer 1942. Battles rage around Stalingrad. No end to the war can be foreseen for at least 3 years. Lieutenant Ogarkov, having failed to deliver a field operation report is facing the death sentence. Private Dzurabaev must escort the accused to army headquarters. Yet he also is unable to fulfil this order: the soldiers are surrounded by the enemy and find themselves on the verge of numerous encounters with death and the potential for sabotage. The comprehensive direction and careful construction of the script allows the film to examine the bonding of these two characters, depicting their professionalism and often heroic acts, without resorting to sensationalism or sentimentality. A timely opportunity to reflect on the 70th anniversary of Victory Day.
