First Dogfight
‘Flyboys’ is a Hollywood-styled War Movie about the “Lafayette Escadrille”, a World War I fighter squadron made up of American volunteer pilots flying for the French Air Service before America’s official entry into the war.
In this selection, we see Texas-born Rawlings (James Franco) fly with his other squadron mates as they head out on their first mission to escort Allied bombers. Before they reach their destination, however, they are set upon by a German squadron, an action-packed dogfight ensues, and the Escadrille learns its first harsh lessons about the deadliness of aerial combat.
