6 Months of Kursk Operation
Six months ago, one of the most significant events of the Russian war against Ukraine occurred – the Kursk Operation.
On August 6, 2024, Ukrainian troops crossed the Russian border. They quickly captured several settlements in the Kursk region, where a military commandant’s office was established.
The operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine somewhat stunned the Russian command with how quickly it proceeded. By the time the Russians were able to regroup, Ukrainian troops had managed to destroy bridges and begin fortifying their positions.
In the fall, the Russians attempted to launch a counteroffensive, but the Ukrainian troops managed to repel it. Towards winter, the Russians threw North Korean troops into battle, but to little effect.
